Multiple explosions rock Maiduguri, Borno state

Multiple explosions which started last night, rocked the city of Maiduguri, Borno state into the early hours of today. According to residents of the capital city, the first explosion was heard at about 10.49pm, the second went off some minutes after Midnight while the last one went off at about 4am today.

The exact locations where the bombs went off is yet unknown but the incident has caused fear in the community

Suspect caught vandalizing cars in Lagos six weeks after his release from Kirikiri Prison

33 year old suspect, Olawasegun Oladimeji, who was arrested by operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command for vandalising Toyota cars in Victoria Island, has confessed that a spare part dealer in Ladipo International Market was the one who gave him the specifications of cars to vandalise.
The suspect, a barber by profession, was arrested in Lekki last week by the RRS officials, barely six weeks after he regained freedom from Kirikiri Prison, Lagos.

Two members of Notorious Armed Robbery Gang arrested in Lagos

The Lagos State Police on January 20, 2017 arrested two members of a notorious armed robbery gang along railway line by Moshalasi Alhaja area of Lagos State.
At about 04:15HRS of the said date the command received a distress call from a resident alleging that armed men were terrorizing inhabitants along railway line by Moshalasi in Agege.
The patrol team  were mobilized to the scene,  immediately the miscreants sighted the policemen they opened fire on the policemen, the police responded and two of the suspected armed robbers were apprehended.

British sniper killed three ISIS terrorists with a single shot

In what has been described as a shot in a million, a British marksman in Iraq killed three senior ISIS terrorists with one shot from a range of 1800m as they were preparing to fire shots into a crowd of women and children. According to a source who spoke with The Daily Star Online, a SAS squad was tracking the IS members when dozens of women and children tried to flee from the extremists.
When the terrorists ordered the civilians to stop and pointed a machine gun at the crowd from a second-storey window, the SAS team decided they had no choice but to open fire and save the fleeing group.
The marksman saved the day with his wonder shot taken from a rifle fitted with a suppressor to reduce noise.

George Michael's former lover claims the late singer was 'hooked on sex drugs'

Paul Stag, a former lover of late singer George Michael, claims he was addicted to a sex drug which led to his death. Stag who dated George for nine years from 2004 after they met through a gay magazine said he often supplied him with Liquid G, a sleeping drug also known as chems and GHB.
He believes the drug was in George's system when he died aged 53 on Christmas Day.

Bala Chinda who murdered Jessica Nkechi McGraa is the son of a Nigerian diplomat

Bala Chinda, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Friday for the rape and murder of Nigerian high class escort, Jessica Nkechi McGraa is also a Nigerian, according to Scottish Press.
Chinda's father works at the Nigerian embassy in Beijing. The 26-year-old killed Ms McGraa only a few weeks after arriving in Scotland to study at Robert Gordon University.

Indian authorities seize over Rs58 lakh from Nigerian man at Delhi airport

Indian authorities seized over Rs 58 lakh (around $85,000) from a Nigerian national identified as one Tochukwu Chijioke, who was travelling to Coimbatore on at the Delhi airport.
Of the total cash seized, almost Rs 54 lakh, was in the newly introduced Rs 2000 & Rs 500 currency notes, while the remaining Rs 4 lakh was in discontinued high-value notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.

7.9 magnitude earthquake strikes New Guinea

According to the US Geological Survey, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake has struck west of Papua New Guinea.The quake was 153 kilometers (95.5 miles) deep and centered 40 kilometers (24 miles) west of the town of Panguna.
Preliminary reports said the earthquake, which occurred at 2:30 p.m. local time Sunday (11:30 p.m. Saturday ET) measured 8.0 but USGS later downgraded its magnitude.

The skeletal remains of a man was discovered in an abandoned warehouse on Saturday, January 20th, around a storage area in Old Wood Best Municipal Road Soi, Thailand. Authorities are currently investigating to identify the skeleton but they suspect it has been there between five to six months. More photos

The abducted children intercepted by Police in Plateau did not eat for six days

The Plateau Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Rufina Gurumyen disclosed that the 145 children rescued after police intercepted two trucks in Plateau did not eat for 6 days. 
The children, aged between 4 to 8 years, were being moved from Jigawa and Bauchi to Plateau, Kaduna and Nasarawa States when men of Sector 2 attached to Operation Safe Haven intercepted the vehicles. 

Botswana becomes the first country to officially denounce Yahya Jammeh as President of the Gambia

The Government of Botswana has officially denounced Yahya Jammeh, as President of The Gambia. A statement issued today, January 19, 2017,  said the country will cease to recognize him as President of Gambia with immediate effect.
According to Botswana government, the decision was because Yahya Jammeh has refused to hand power to President-elect  Adama Barrow.
