No Cheers In Abia As Ikpeazu Rides Opposition To Victory

Abia state governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has succeeded in his second term reelection bid. He was announced the winner of the 2015 Abia governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with 261,127 votes representing 59 percent of the 444,376 total votes cast. It was expected to that the battle for Abia government house would be a very tough one but it turned out that the incumbent governor dusted his opponents easily. The first runner up, Mr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah of the All Progressives Congress (APC) got 99,574 votes or 22.4 percent of total votes. The governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Alex Otti was placed third with 64,366 votes or 14.5 percent of total votes.

Two Pilots Die as Chinese Navy Fighter Jet Crashes

Two pilots died after a Chinese Navy fighter jet crashed during training on Tuesday, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

The jet crashed in Ledong Li Autonomous County, on the southern island of Hainan, according to the statement.

Police nab suspected armed robber withdrawing money with victim’s ATM card

The Police Command in Enugu State has arrested a suspected armed robber while he withdrawing money with a victim’s Automated Teller Machine card within Enugu metropolis.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement on Tuesday in Enugu that the suspect was arrested on March 7.

Gunmen kidnap expatriate, kill one in Kano

Gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday in Kano killed a driver and kidnapped an expatriate in the metropolis.
The expatriate, who is a staff of Triacta Construction Company working on the Kano Zoo Road under-path, was abducted at the construction site in the metropolis.
An eyewitness who pledged anonymity told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on Tuesday that the incident happened around 7:00am as the company’s staff were returning to work after the election break
