Malaysia to hang 29-year-old Nigerian student for drug trafficking

A 29-year-old Nigerian student at a private college in Malaysia, Luke Nnaemeka Ugwu, has been sentenced to death by hanging by a Malaysian High Court for drug trafficking.

The Malaysian National News Agency reports that, Ugwu, was caught at the Kuala Lumpur International Airportarrival hall in Sepang at 9.45p.m. on May 15, 2012.

He was found guilty of trafficking 725.4gm of methamphetamine at Court Shah Alam on Friday

Two other Nigerian students Okechukwu and Obdiegwu Chinwuba Sigismund, 29, escaped the death penalty after one of them, Onyeme Chibunna Okechukwu, 31, pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of drug possession.He was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane.On the other hand, Obdiegwu was acquitted.
