Iranian President calls Buhari, protests killing of Shiites

President Buhari yesterday received a call from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani protesting the killing of Shiites during a clash between the Army and the Shiites in Kaduna on Saturday December 12th that left over 60 Shiite members dead.
The Iranian president said “minor disputes must not be allowed to turn into deep differences” among Muslims and also demanded for information on the fate of the leader of Nigeria’s “Shia Muslims”.

He also called for a commission of inquiry into the weekend crackdown and action by Nigeria to “appease the victims and restore calm”. In a related development, the Speaker of Iran’s parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani also yesterday said that the recent attack were a pre-planned plot in the best interests of the Israeli regime.

In a letter to Nigeria’s Speaker of the House of Representatives Dogara Yakubu, Larijani added that the painful incident was aimed at causing discord among Muslim sects.
