Rapper Shawty Lo Killed In Car Crash: Everything We Know About His Death So Far

On Wednesday morning, rapper Shawty Lo died. He was 40 years old. Details about the rapper’s death are still scarce but according to multiple reports, he was killed in a car accident.
A founding member of the hip-hop group D4L, Shawty Lo, whose real name is Carlos Walker, was best known for his solo songs “Dey Know” and “Foolish.” D4L’s 2005 song “Laffy Taffy” went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 2006.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the “fiery crash” took place on interstate 285 in south Fulton County, Georgia. While the victim of the car crash has yet to be identified, Shawty Lo’s brother and manager confirmed the rapper was the victim.

“My brother has passed he is no longer here but his spirit, his kind heart, and his music will live on long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead,” read a tweet from the official Shawty Lo Twitter account.
On Instagram, Shawty Lo’s manager, Johnnie Cabbell wrote: “I am so so so devastated that words cannot describe how I feel right now. Shawty Lo was not just my artist, he was my brother, he was my friend. I have been Lo MGR for over 10yrs. He was loyal, and he had my back when no one else did.”
After originally being described as a hit-and-run, “it has been confirmed now that it was a single car accident,” said Fulton police spokeswoman Cpl. Maureen Smith. The crash took place around 2:20 a.m. and occurred when a white Audi went over a guardrail, hitting two trees and bursted into flames. The driver of the vehicle was thrown from the car and pronounced dead on the scene. Two other passengers in the vehicle were hurt in the crash and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The father to 11 children, Shawty Lo’s life was set to be the subject of an Oxygen reality TV series called “All My Babies’ Mamas” before it was canceled by the network in 2013. “People made assumptions that the show was gonna be violent or something or I was doing it for money, but you know, I never had money problems,” Shawty Lo said. Shawty Lo
runs in place for the rest of the day*
