Nigerians with Advanced Skills Can’t Practise Here - Deputy Speaker

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Sulaimon Lasun has lamented that Nigerians with advanced skills, particularly in technology, are unable to practise in Nigeria due to a lack of space to practise and develop their skills, a  trend which hinders development.

He therefore called on  foreign firms not just to take advantage of the market provided by the population of Nigerians, but also to establish manufacturing firms in the country.

Speaking when he received the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Noh Kyu-duk on a courtesy visit in Abuja Monday, Lasun said this set of Nigerians would be able to practise their skills in such manufacturing firms.

Abubakar Shekau missing in new Boko Haram video

The leader of Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau is missing in a new video released by the sect today August 3rd. The 8 minutes video shows an unidentified young man speaking in the name of the Islamic State in West Africa and calling on people to be patient:

"We are still present everywhere we had been before.". he said

The video showed the sect members attacking a security checkpoint, seizing weapons, and slitting the throat of a man dressed in police uniform.

The monarch made the remark on Monday when the outgoing Commander, 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army Sokoto,  Brig -Gen. Chikezie Ude, paid him a farewell visit.

NAFDAC boss interrogated by EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC today interrogated the Director General of NAFDAC, Paul Orhii, over allegations of fraud. Mr Orhii is being investigated for allegedly awarding contracts to companies he has interest in. He arrived the commission's headquarters in Abuja this morning at about 10am and is currently being interrogated.
