Retired police officer arraigned in Bauchi over rape

A 60-year-old retired police officer was arraigned on Thursday before a Bauchi State High Court ‎for allegedly raping two girls, aged five and six.
The suspect, a retired assistant superintendent of police, Yusuf Ibrahim, who resides at Bakin Kura within the Bauchi metropolis, was accused of luring the two children into his shop and raping them.
The prosecution counsel, Mohammad Adamu, said the offence violated Section 28‎2 (1e) and was punishable under section 283 of Bauchi panel code.

He said on May 25, 2015, the accused lured the girls with chewing gum.
Two out of three witnesses in the case have already testified.
The presiding judge, Muazu Abubakar, adjourned the case to September 16 after denying the accused bail.
