A Pakistani woman was arrested as she
delivered more then 5 kilogrammes of heroin to a Nigerian man who
was under surveillance by anti-narcotics offices, Dubai Criminal Court
heard on Sunday, March 6.
According
to prosecutors, the officers got a tip-off that the 33-year-old
Nigerian (name withheld), who was in the country on a visit visa, was
dealing in drug. He was under surveillance on November 3 when he was
seen meeting with the Pakistani woman, 40, who was also on a visit visa.
"We
were tipped off about him then a few days later while we kept him under
our eyes we received new information that he was awaiting a new drug
shipment from a woman," said Emirati police captain A R, 42.
The
officer said the Nigerian man met the Pakistani woman at a park in
Naif. The two talked for a short time after which the woman handed a
large bag to him.
"He
was walking and looking around for her and she was doing the same until
they met. They spoke and she handed him the bag. At that point we
arrested them," said the police.
More
than 5,544kg of heroin hidden in a set of accessories were found inside
the bag. Both were charged with possessing heroin to sell. They denied
the charge in court. The next hearing is set on March 17.
