Chelsea returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory at Leicester City, thanks to two goals by Marcos Alonso and a Pedro header that restored their seven-point lead.
With leading scorer Diego Costa out after Antonio Conte said he had a back injury, Alonso gave his side a sixth-minute lead with a curling finish from Eden Hazard’s layoff.
The Spaniard struck again six minutes into the second half with a deflected drive.
Alonso almost had an unlikely hat-trick but his volley fizzed narrowly wide.
Pedro produced the third, meeting Willian’s cutback with a looping header.
The win means Chelsea boast two more points than the 50 they earned in the whole of 2015/16.
Leicester remain 15th, five points above the relegation zone.
