The rapper, Jesse Jagz, is one of the finest rappers in the Nigerian hip hop music world. He is one of our rappers that love to do his thing and he sometimes gets misunderstood. After walking out of Chocolate City to start his label, Jagz Nation, many thought something was amiss. This year, the rapper walked his way back to the label not after winning the Rap Album at the HEADIES 2014.
In a chat with the media at the Chocolate City office, Jesse who is MI- Jude Abaga’s younger brother, stunned all when he stated that he has not been to a church in eight years. The son of a clergy went on to clarify himself that he has no problem with church or places of worship but that religion is a thing of the mind and that one can connect to God alone.
“My Dad is a pastor and music has always been with me. I haven’t been to a church in eight years. My reason is this, beyond religion and all that, education does not only exist in the four walls of the classroom. In the same way, God does not only exist in religious institutions. God exists on its own,” said Jesse.
The rapper who has released great albums added that his label, Jagz Nation, still exists as an inde (independent) label under Chocolate City.
