Catholic priest bars priests from officiating at flamboyant burials

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Revd. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has asked all priests under his diocese to stop officiating at Flamboyant burial ceremonies otherwise they will be sanctioned.
Reverend Ezeokafor who gave the order while speaking to some Catholic priest in Anambra state yesterday January 17th, said the move is to help Nigerians stop unnecessary expenditure during funerals. He advised those from Southern Nigeria to emulate the Northern Nigerian Muslims who bury their loved ones with little or no fan-fair. He said the new directive involves no sharing of souvenirs as well as moderate cooking of food.
