Enyimba pick up another point as Akwa United clash ends in Draw

Enyimba and Akwa United played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Wednesday evening in a Week 21 NPFL showdown.

The promise keepers started the game well and their effort paid off with the opening goal in the third minute through Aniekpeno Udoh before the Peoples’ Elephant got their acts together to get the equalizer through Musa Najere.It was Najere’s second goal from two matches since he joined the Aba side at the start of the second stanza.

The game was explosive for most part of the encounter and after the first half had ended 1-1, Akwa United also started the second half same way they did in the first half and they raced into the lead again in the 57th minute from the penalty spot through Aniekan Ekpe after one of the hosts’ players was tripped in the 18 yard box.

Enyimba did not lose hope as they still chasing after the game expecting to turn things around. Their patience paid off six minutes later after Akwa United second goal through Alloy Browne who marked his debut for the Aba side with a goal. He came in for the scorer of the People’s Elephant’s first goal.

Enyimba are still on top of the league table with 38 points from 21 matches but the position may change hands on Thursday if Sunshine Stars beat Sharks in Akure.
